I knew I was safe when you touched down, Like a thousand angels dancing around . . . All I know is that CareFlight you came for me.
WHEN musician Steve Graham recorded this song three weeks ago, his own lyrics caused him to break down.
The former Tahmoor man, who recently moved to the Gold Coast, performed at last years CareFlight day and this year decided to write a song for the day.
The CareFlight committee liked the idea and so he wrote the song in about 40 minutes and recorded it using minimal equipment.
''I kind of did it in one day,'' he said.
''When I was recording it I broke down three or four times.''
He wrote the song as if he had been saved by CareFlight.
''I understood exactly what they were after,'' he said.
''I made it really personal.''
Organiser Di Clarke said everyone was touched by the lyrics.
''There were tears shed as individuals related this to their own tragic experience or to the many stories they read or heard and the heroic actions of CareFlight,'' she said.
The song can be bought on the CareFlight website and Graham hopes to have it played on commercial radio and TV.
''CareFlight is something we should all support, he said.
''It's the only thing of its kind.
''Otherwise who's gonna come and get you?''
He is looking forward to performing next weekend and is anxiously awaiting the crowds reaction.
Hell perform the song at CareFlight Day, at Tahmoor Oval on September 14.
