Pair aim for the stars

THE sky is not the limit for Australian pop stars Stan Walker and Jessica Mauboy as they tour the country promoting their hit single Galaxy.

The Galaxy Tour will come to Campbelltown RSL Club on Saturday.

2009 Australian Idol winner Walker is excited to have the opportunity to tour Australia with his good friend Mauboy.

"We both always have wanted to tour Australia and wanted to do it together," Walker said.

Mauboy and Walker's debut duet has become an iTunes Top 10 Smash Hit since its release late last year.

Walker is proud of the song and how easy working with Mauboy is.

"The process of writing and recording is always a little challenging," he said. "But with Jess it's like working with a best mate.

"From the first time we met we've been close friends."

Walker couldn't imagine doing the song with anyone else.

"Galaxy is an awesome and beautiful song, we couldn't be happier to have done it together."

Last year Walker performed in the Summerbeatz Concert alongside international urban singers Flo Rider, Jay Sean, Akon, Ciara, Ja Rule and Travie MaCoy.

"Performing and touring with the big names, like Akon, was an experience to remember," he said.

Walker said the Summerbeatz concert was a major highlight in his career and he was grateful for the luck he has had over the years.

"You never really would have known what would have happened or how things would have turned out if I never went as far as I did with Australian Idol," Walker said.

"And because of that I am always learning, and growing constantly as a person and as an artist.

"It doesn't matter what you're doing; it is a lot of hard work.

"With every performance I have done over the years, I grow a little each time."

Walker and Mauboy will be touring together for the majority of the next few months.

After that, Walker is preparing a year full of tours and performances.

"I'm not really focusing on writing at the moment," he said.
