CAMDEN and Wollondilly Cabs manager Chris Moule has welcomed the new disabled access ramp at Tahmoor's taxi rank.
"We threw our support behind it after the request was made to Wollondilly Council," Mr Moule said.
He said the ramp was accessible and safe for people with disabilities to board cabs.
"It's [the taxi rank] a fairly common pick up point. It's the hub of Tahmoor," he said.
He said there had been several cases where taxi drivers had to wheel passengers with disabilities over the kerb.
The ramp was installed on Saturday after further pressure from Wollondilly councillors Shane Read and Judy Hannan.
The two councillors had called for council staff to install disabled access at Tahmoor's taxi rank on Remembrance Drive at February's council meeting.
Taxi drivers had to ask passengers with disabilities to meet at a lower point on the roadside.
The motion in February called for the council to "put a layback in at the taxi rank in Tahmoor to allow wheelchair access to taxis".
Cr Hannan said residents could raise other access problems with her if there were similar problems in other parts of the shire.
"It's really embarrassing if they can't get people into the cab," she said.
Wollondilly Council infrastructure manager Dick Webb said the council had intended to build the ramp before Christmas but had been hampered by rain.
He said the council was happy to deliver the ramp after it had consulted with the community and decided Tahmoor's taxi rank was the ideal position for the ramp.
