MORE than 10,000 people each month are flocking to the new facilities at Warragamba Dam and locals are looking for new ways to welcome these tourists to town.
Wollondilly councillor Michael Beshara owns a variety store in Warragamba and said he had noticed some new faces come through his doors since the dam reopened, especially on weekends.
``There are a few issues that we need to look at to get these people in our town,'' Cr Beshara said.
``The main thing is that there's no parking for buses here.
``We've got buses from Liverpool and Blacktown coming in but nowhere for them to stop.
``We also need to evolve as a town and give people somewhere to sit down and enjoy a coffee or cake.''
A new website has been created to show off the business community in Warragamba.
Local resident Christine Maude compiled the directory to encourage visitors to stop and support local businesses.
``We have thousands of visitors a month at the dam facilities, but the businesses have hardly noticed it,'' she said.
``We need to get the message out that there is more than just the dam up here.
``We are also looking at regular monthly markets, too.''
