 Cutting crew call for cash

Cutting crew call for cash

17 Feb, 2010 08:15 AM
TEAMS from all over Wollondilly have united for this year's World's Greatest Shave.

The Wollondilly Community We are One team will hold shave events all over the shire next month.

Organiser Sharon Robertson said the money raised would go directly to the Leukaemia Foundation.

``My husband's father has chronic myeloid leukaemia which is a very rare form of leukaemia,'' she said.

``He might not be alive today if he didn't get the new drug that was formed 10 years ago to treat it and that wouldn't be available without the Leukaemia Foundation's fund-raising.

``They had given him only a couple of years to live before that miracle drug came along.

``It gave him the chance to see his grandchildren born and grow up into cute kids.''

The Wollondilly team raised nearly $20,000 last year and hope to raise more this time.

Shave events will be held on Friday, March 12 at The Oaks Hotel from 2pm to 7pm, Friday, March 12 at Bargo Hotel, and Saturday, March 13 at Warragamba Workers and Sports Club.

Everyone is welcome to attend an event or join the team to shave or colour.
