 Drilling so ghastly

Drilling so ghastly

02 Mar, 2011 12:00 AM
RESIDENTS will have the chance to learn more about coal seam gas exploration when a local environmental group screens the documentary Gasland in Campbelltown at 4pm this Sunday.

Rivers SOS will show the film at Campbelltown Arts Centre.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and pensioners.

Gasland, which will be introduced by anti-corruption warrior John Hatton (pictured), is about communities in the US adversely affected by natural gas drilling.

A Rivers SOS spokeswoman said coal seam gas exploration was escalating rapidly in south-western Sydney's outskirts.

"Areas in Camden, Darkes Forest/Maddens Plains and Varroville are under threat and, unbelievably, plans are even afoot to drill in the special areas of our drinking water catchment," the spokeswoman said.
