THE Oaks Public School has bade farewell to the school's chaplain, Colin Watts, with a special ceremony recently.
Reverend Watts volunteered at the school for 11 years, where he co-ordinated scripture lessons, helped at the canteen and was president of the school's P&C and school council.
Mr Watts will take on the role of chaplain to the horse racing industry, through the Australia Racing Christian Chaplaincy.
``This will involve a move to Kensington,'' he said.
``I will be involved with people who work in racing, particularly at Randwick, Warwick Farm and Rosehill Racecourse.''
The Oaks Public School principal Frank Broomham said Mr Watts went above and beyond the call of duty.
``The scripture teachers had a farewell for him and our kids made up a big card that every child signed, with pictures and drawings on it,'' he said.
Mr Watts was chaplain at The Oaks Anglican Church, for the Wollondilly District RFS and was involved with The Oaks RFS.
