Here's what some locals had to say on our website:
``Why do we need traffic lights in Picton when Tahmoor has traffic from Woolworths, KFC, a bank, bakery and House Warehouse all coming out on to the same road without lights? As if one McDonald's in Picton is going to create more traffic than that. There are lots more people living in and driving through Tahmoor than Picton. Let Maccas come these councillors don't know what traffic is.Maggie
``I still think it should have gone to Picton Road, Maldon or at Tahmoor where the nursery was. Another Campbelltown is coming. markm
``Stop wasting ratepayers' money, Cr Banasik, on your ongoing crusade to bring Picton to a grinding halt! McDonald's and traffic lights will bring a breath of fresh air to stilted, old Picton. Camden is dying a slow death due to not moving with the times. Let's not send Picton down the same path!Deb
``All they need to do is put in a crossing across Argyle Street in front of McDonald's and another one somewhere along Cliffe Street.''Robert Carlin
``Are councillors aware of the chronic and growing levels of child obesity in Australia? Do they understand how this development will change the character of our community forever and will affect our small business culture, particularly cafes, that have been part of the enduring appeal of Picton? Why do they think other communities throughout Australia have fought tooth and nail against the globalisation of this fast food chain? We do not have to let this happen.''Mark Viner
