THERE will be more than one set of propellers at Tahmoor Oval on Sunday, September 14.
Rangers from the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will bring a ParkAir 1 Squirrel helicopter to this year's Community CareFlight Day.
Ranger Patsy Ross said the helicopter was used to carry construction materials to remote locations and lift rubbish out of remote areas.
``It's also used to carry firefighters for quick response in remote or rugged locations and aerial reconnaissance for fire behaviour,'' she said.
``The helicopter can carry 300 litres of water at a time for water bombing fires and is also used to assist in search and rescue missions.''
Ms Ross said locals would be able to get a close look at the helicopter and ask lots of questions.
``A technical crew member will be there on the day to answer any technical questions about the helicopter,'' she said. ``All staff are trained in heli-safety, winching and fire management.''
On the CareFlight Day, rangers will have information, brochures and maps on the Nattai reserves, fire management, pest control and native flora and fauna.
Ms Ross said that NSW Parks and Wildlife Services thought CareFlight operations were a vital program in the community and worth supporting.
``The day is also a great opportunity for the department to impart knowledge to the community and gain feedback on various on-park and off-park conservation works,'' she said.
``Rangers will be available to answer queries and take on board community feedback.''
