IF YOU'VE ever seen a stunt bird flying around your television screen, it was more than likely trained by Ravi Wasan (pictured).
Mr Wasan is a professional trainer who will bring birds to this year's Community CareFlight Day at Tahmoor Oval on Sunday, September 14.
He is the founder and president of Feathered Friends Bird Behavioural Breeding Association and directs the annual Sydney Pet and Animal Expo's Bird and Wildlife Presentation Area in Sydney.
His birds will perform tricks and stunts for the crowd on the CareFlight day and Mr Wasan will give information on bird training and conservation.
Mr Wasan said he had trained birds for movies, commercials, expos and theatrical shows.
``We also teach members of the public to get their birds to fly outside and land in their hands,'' he said. ``And we provide knowledge about birds and animals and how we should conserve them.''
Mr Wasan said his birds would tie in with the CareFlight theme.
``We also fly cockatoos around the public and teach people about parrots,'' he said.
``Most people don't realise that parrots have the mentality of a nine-year-old child.
``It's a really cool fun show and people get a big appreciation for the birds.''
Mr Wasan said his birds performed and that there was what he called a ``wow factor from the crowd''.
