WOLLONDILLY councillors want to know what Sydney Water is doing about its plan to connect parts of the shire to the sewerage system.
The snail pace of local sewerage provision has councillors' patience tested to the limit and at last week's council meeting Cr Col Mitchell said he wanted answers.
``I want Sydney Water to put in writing when the Macquarie Grove Village at Tahmoor and Tahmoor sporting complex will be connected,'' he said. ``And I would like an update on the planning of the new sewerage scheme for Bargo, Buxton and Yanderra.''
Councillors supported the notice of motion unanimously.
Wollondilly state MP Phil Costa said he spoke to Water Minister Nathan Rees's office on Thursday and asked if the plans for Wollondilly were on track.
``I was told that $10 million had been set aside in the budget to start the planning and as promised it will commence at end of this year,'' he said.
``There has been money allocated to begin the first part of it, which is the community consultation process.''
Cr Mitchell said that over the past six years the council had been advised several times that the Maquarie Grove Retirement Village would be connected.
``It's a joke how long these people have had to wait,'' he said.
``They are paying a fortune for sewerage [removal] up there.''
Mr Costa said he would make inquiries to find out why the village had not yet been connected.
