BUSINESSWOMAN Agnes May Chalker (nee Gilmore) died on November 5, aged 77. Her funeral was held on Thursday at StAnthony's, Picton.

Ms Chalker had a history of diabetes and a heart condition.

For the past 18 years she had lived at Casula but her love remained for Lakesland and Thirlmere where she grew up.

She was respected in business and lobbied for local tourism.

As a child she went to boarding school at Picton Convent, worked on the family farm and was an excellent horse rider.

She met her husband Kevin, who died from a mining accident in 1972, at a diggers' ball.

She is survived by sons Stephen and Michael.

Stephen puts on regular local and family history displays and his wife, Alison, works at The QV Hospital.

Michael is a musician and runs Chalker Music which Agnes started more than 30 years ago.

The brothers thanked the community for its condolences, thoughts and prayers.
