THIRLMERE athlete William Ritchard has taken home this year's Wollondilly Australia Day young sportsperson award.
The 12-year-old has been a representative in sports in the Macarthur Zone, Sydney South West Regional and Primary School Sports Association teams, competing in rugby league, rugby union and touch football.
William has also competed in swimming, cross country athletics at regional and NSW championships.
The young athlete has previously qualified for the Australian swimming nationals in the 50 metres freestyle and 100m butterfly events.
Meantime, hockey and Oztag representative Vanessa Garrick won Wollondilly's Australia Day sportsperson award.
She was a member of last year's Raby premiership-winning team; 2009 premiership-winning Moorebank Hockey Club division 1; Barbarians oztag representative and NSW Oztag State of Origin player.
