ORANGEVILLE motor racing driver Daniel Erickson has taken out his maiden British Formula Ford Championship win in Round 13 at Donington Park.
The 21-year-old led from start to finish in the 41-kilometre race 1.6 seconds ahead of his nearest rival to allow him to pop the champagne cork on the podium.
Erickson's victory on Saturday put him in sixth place in the championship.
He finished third and sixth in two races on Sunday.
Meantime, a fund-raising dinner and auction for Erickson has raised more than $15,000 to help him compete.
The evening at Campbelltown Catholic Club featured on-stage interviews with local motor racing drivers Barton Mawer and David Wall and champion boxer Daniel Geale.
Top of the list in the auction was a rare, autographed race helmet of Australia's Formula 1 driver Mark Webber, which fetched $3500.
