THE new-look Menangle Park Paceway will be unveiled to the public on Sunday, May 4, during an open day at the track.
Starting at 11am, the day will feature horses being worked on the new 1400-metre circuit.
There will be a guided tour of the paceway and its completed buildings and surroundings, as well as a chance to walk around the track.
NSW Harness Racing Club chairman Rex Horne will welcome patrons at noon.
Trainers were started training horses on the track on April 17.
Trainers Peter Morris and Ian Thorn were among the first to work their horses on the new surface. Thorn said he was impressed with the speed of the track with one of his horses sprinting 400metres in 27.8 seconds.
Only cosmetic touches need to be finalised for the official grand opening, which is scheduled for June 29.
Club chief executive John Dumesny believes trainers, drivers, owners and the general public will be ``thoroughly pleased with what they see at Menangle''.
``The only major infrastructure component to be completed is the timing system, which is expected to be commissioned by the middle of May.
``Plenty of work has been undertaken in recent weeks, however, the volunteer works will continue to ensure the grand opening will be a success.''
Dumesny said the track's official opening day would unveil the best track in Australasia and feature a record seven Group One events.
