Formula Ford driver has eyes on the title prize

06 Sep, 2007 01:41 PM
ORANGEVILLE motor racing driver Daniel Erickson has proven his front-running potential during his first year of Formula Ford racing.

The 19-year-old recently impressed onlookers during the third and final race of the fifth round of the NSW State Formula Ford Championship at Goulburn's Wakefield Park Raceway.

Displaying aggressive speed and calculated driving skill, Erickson battled with defending champion Ben Morley.

Proving himself to be a leading championship contender Erickson managed to secure the runners-up position.

It was Erickson's second podium position and strongest performance of the year to consolidate third place in the championship.

He is also leading the Rookie of the Year point score.

"I feel as though I'm becoming increasingly capable of mixing with the frontrunners and I think that after the last race I have earned respect from my peers," Erickson said.

Erickson's aim is to continue improving his form and gain podium positions.
