David Hayes declared Galaxy Pegasus has the makings of a top-class miler in the autumn, but could easily be tempted to run in next week's Coolmore Stud Stakes after his win at group 3 level at Moonee Valley on Saturday. The War Pass colt took his record to three wins from four starts as he just held out a late challenge on the fence from Law to score in the Telstra Phonewords Stakes. "I think he will be better in the autumn but we will see how he pulls up," Hayes said. "The natural progression would be to go to 1400m, but it is a group 1 next week and he did just run faster time then they did in the Manikato [on Friday night]. He is a colt and if you have a look at him, he is a good-looking colt, and you don't get the chance to go for a group 1 too often. He had to be good to do what he did but he is still going to be better in the autumn and I think he will get a strong mile." Damien Oliver echoed Hayes' thoughts about Galaxy Pegasus. "It was a good effort. He's a really nice horse that's going to develop into a nice horse next time in," he said.
