Thoughts of "here we go again" probably crossed the minds of many Wests Tigers fans when Melbourne Storm took an early 10-0 lead on Friday night.
It was so good to be proven wrong.
Wests Tigers pulled off an upset against the Storm to win 34-16 at Leichhardt Oval.
For those Tiger Talk readers who didn't stay up to watch the delayed game, here's the good things you missed:
■James Tedesco. The incredible fullback's first try in the 28th minute was a beauty. He was so quick he outran Storm winger Marika Koroibete. Yes, you read that right. He outran Koroibete. Tedesco's second try came from pure will. In the 69th minute he had two players on him but managed to extend his arm just enough to reach the try line. It was almost as if he willed his arm to grow a few centimetres.
■Kevin Naiqama. His tackle on the aforementioned Koroibete in 31st minute put the former Tiger off while trying to take a high kick, making him spill the ball for Dene Halatau to score. Three minutes later Naiqama put pressure Cameron Smith, making the experienced Storm captain kick it out on the full. Then Naiqama scored in the 39th minute off a Tedesco pass and a fancy bit of footwork, a dummy and quick passing put David Nofoaluma over in the 61st minute. Naiqama earned his pay packet.
■Aaron Woods played his 100th NRL game but missed his partner and dog waiting on the field to wish him luck. He also had a bit of trouble getting through the banner.
■Curtis Sironen celebrated his 22nd birthday and led the team song after the win.
