DACHSHUNDS of all shapes and sizes sprinted across Port Fairy’s Southcombe Park in front of more than a thousand dog lovers on Sunday.
The annual Dachshund Dash, a part of the Port Fairy Winter Weekend, was a crowd pleaser with humans and canines alike.
More than 60 sausage dogs entered the races, with Hector, owned by David Shovelton and Elena Jacovides, of Ascot Vale, being crowned top dog.
Mr Shovelton said Hector had a natural talent for sprinting and he didn’t need to train the Dachshund for the race.
Last year Hector won the under two-year-old race. The annual event also included an open race for all dog breeds.
