UPDATE, 7PM: Police remain at the scene of the fatal single-vehicle crash.
Victoria Police has released a statement saying the child, who died at the scene, was a three-year-old girl.
A 31-year-old woman was airlifted to the Royal Melbourne Hospital in a serious condition.
A 61-year-old woman and a five-year-old girl were taken to Bendigo Health with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police investigations are ongoing and the exact details surrounding the crash have yet to be determined.
The Major Collision Investigation Unit is on its way to the scene.
The crash brings the road toll to seven, two more than the number of lives lost this time last year.

UPDATE, 6.41pm: Three people injured after a crash near Toolleen have been taken to hospital.
Sergeant Dale Sim, of Rochester Police, said one person had been taken to Melbourne, while two others had been conveyed to Bendigo Health.
He said it was a single vehicle crash, where the vehicle has run off the road into some trees.
UPDATE, 6pm: A child has died following a car crash near Toolleen.
A Victoria Police spokesperson has confirmed the fatality.
Three other people were injured in the crash near the intersection of Heathcote-Rochester Road and Cornella-Toolleen Road, Cornella.
UPDATE 5.20pm: Ambulance officers continue to treat three people injured in a car crash near Toolleen.
A woman believed to be aged in her 30s and a primary school-aged girl are in the care of paramedics.
The car’s driver, sex unknown, is also receiving treatment.
EARLIER: Ambulance and CFA officers are en route to a car crash near Toolleen this evening where it is believed as many as four people are injured.
The incident on Heathcote-Rochester Road was called in to emergency services at 4.55pm.
Three Ambulance Victoria crews are responding.
