One of the simplest ways to rejuvenate your home’s interior is to update window furnishings.
According to Richard Misso, interior design expert and creative director at The Stylesmiths, window furnishings are a focal point.
“When it comes to window furnishings, I believe keeping it fresh and current is super important. Your home can look easily dated and stuck in a time warp if they’re not updated as window furnishings are such a focal point,” Mr Misso said.
The right window furnishings should complement the interior’s style and era.
“Look at the entire colour and texture pallet of your room before deciding on colours and materials,” Mr Misso said.
But he also said people should consider practical aspects.
“Take into consideration, if you want to let in light, block out harsh sunlight, reduce your heating and cooling bills. These factors are all critical,” he said.
The Stylesmiths creative director also shared his tips on what’s trending.
“We love to add layers, shade and textures,” Mr Misso said. “Metallic surfaces are back in vogue, bronze and gold metallic fabrics layered with sheers are making a grand appearance in living rooms and bedrooms.
“The simple layering of these metallics draped from a classic metal rod blends beautifully with the latest color trends such as inky blues and murky greens.
“Also charcoal and slate are the new neutrals and blend beautifully with the metallic trends.
“Darker neutral fabrics frame a window elegantly and add a more sophisticated look to your room.”
