Macarthur and the Illawarra’s brightest young rugby union players descended on Camden Rugby Park on Saturday hoping to come away grand final winners.
The venue played host to several grand finals including the under 12s match which featured cross-town rivals the Camden Rams and the Campbelltown Harlequins.
It was the fifth time the two sides played each this year, with Campbelltown winning three of the matches – 39-26 (round two), 19-12 (round seven) and 31-26 (semi-final).
The other match in round 15 ended in a 24-all-draw.
The grand final, like the round 15 clash, was a tight contest that eventually saw Camden prevail over Campbelltown for the first time in 2017, in a 31-29 thriller.
The defeat was also the Harelquins’ first of the year.
However, it wasn’t all bad news for the Campbelltown club with several other sides emerging victorious.
The under 10s overcame Tech Waratahs 38-0 in the first game of the day at Camden Rugby Park.
The under 11s took to the field immediately after and beat Kiama comprehensively, 65-0.
It was also a dominant display from the Harelquins under 13s side who also beat Kiama 43-20.
