Joe Grima has assured locals he will never forget the support Grima Bros received from the community when the store faced closure a few months ago.

To celebrate and thank local residents for their unwavering support, the Grima Bros team will host a community day on Saturday, November 18.

Camden Council voted in favour of allowing the fresh produce store to continue operating even though the size of the store was not compliant with relevant planning controls.

Mr Grima told the Advertiser after the meeting last month that he was overwhelmed by the support they had received from their customers.

“Our customers have been amazing,” he said. “It has been a very nerve-racking time but they have given us the strength to fight.

“Without them I might have just put my head down and closed (the shop).”

The ‘Thanking Our Community Day’ event will feature in-store specials, prize giveaways, live entertainment and a DJ.

Mr Grima said they wanted to find a special way to thank residents for their support during uncertain times.

“We had to find a way to give back to them,” he said.

“Customers can sample free food from all over the world, enjoy the entertainment and we will also have surprise giveaways.

“Come down and try some delicious food samples and enjoy the day.”

The event will be held at Grima Bros Wholesale Produce, Unit 5-6/1 Gregory Hills Drive, Gregory Hills.
