Camden will be transformed into a festive wonderland on Saturday, November 18, for the annual Light Up Camden event.
Argyle and John Streets will be lined with entertainment, food and market stalls from 4pm until 9pm.
Camden Chamber of Commerce president Maryann Strickling said the event would feature plenty of family fun.
“It’s a chance to showcase incredible local talent on stage,” she said.
“It will also give people the opportunity to do some unique Christmas shopping. It’s a fantastic evening of food, rides for the children, a visit from Santa and of course the lighting of the Christmas tree.”
The lighting of the tree will coincide with the announcement of the Mayor's Christmas Card competition.
Ms Strickling said a jet flypast may happen at this year’s event depending on the weather.
“There will also be a spine-tingling performance by local group, Urban Opera,” she said.
”The 9D cinema is back too. It is a multi-sensory cinema experience – no need to travel to the Gold Coast, come to Light Up Camden.”
Ms Strickling said Camden’s unique character made the event particularly special.
”[Light Up Camden is] a community event in a community space,” she said.
“We all own the streets and we all enjoy the ambience that the Camden town centre has in spades.
“It’s a chance to herald the start of the festive season, an opportunity to kick-start Christmas shopping and most of all, have a great family time enjoying all that Camden has to offer.”
The event will end with a spectacular firework display.
