Campbellfield Public School gets a taste of the glitz and glamour

There was a touch of Hollywood in Minto this afternoon when Campbellfield Public School hosted a glamorous red carpet event.

The school held a premiere screening of a short film teachers and students put together about their recent successful Reading Project.

The Reading Project saw various community members, special guests, parents and more take some time out of their days to read to the students two mornings a week.

The program was designed to show the children that reading was important and something the whole community should embrace.

Students, teachers and parents this afternoon walked the red carpet and sipped on flutes of mocktails while picking at their popcorn as they waited for the film to be presented.

It featured video from the school’s appearances on the Good Morning Macarthur program, Channel Seven’s Sunrise and even an original music clip.

Everyone was also looking forward to the outtakes at the end of the film.

The glitzy event drew various community members, including representatives of Ingleburn Rotary and Campbelltown councillor Margaret Chivers.

Campbellfield principal Nicole Wade was overjoyed at the atmosphere created by the red carpet event.

“I could hear, as I was in my office downstairs, all the cheers as people came down that red carpet,” she said.

“This is an absolutely beautiful community to be a part of.

“Today we celebrate and really look back at what a success the Reading Project was.

“We are very grateful and we were lucky to have Gillian Blackmore and her leadership of that program and the initiative. She is an amazing and inspiring person, and she’s done a great job today and in leading the staff.

“I want everyone to relax today and break down those walls between kids, parents and staff which is what the project was all about – making us all one big happy community and family.”
