Colourful property developer Salim Mehajer has been charged with two counts of breaching an apprehended violence order, and one count of dangerous driving after a crash in Sydney's south early on Monday morning.
Campsie police attended the scene of a vehicle collision on Moorefields Road in Kingsgrove about 1am on Monday. No one was injured in the crash.
Mr Mehajer was arrested and taken to Campsie police station.
He has been refused bail and will appear in Burwood Local Court later on Monday.
"[The arrest] relates to an alleged breach of an AVO and motor vehicle collision at Kingsgrove overnight," a police spokeswoman told Fairfax Media.
"The man is expected to be charged with breaching the AVO and the bail is expected to be refused prior to an appearance in Burwood Local Court later today."
Police were unable to confirm if the alleged breach of the AVO and the accident were linked.
Mr Mehajer made headlines for the first time in 2015 when he married Aysha Learmonth. He labelled the lavish ceremony in Sydney's west "Australia's best wedding".
The celebrations, which captured public attention, featured four helicopters, a cavalcade of limousines, sports cars and motorbikes, and a police presence to monitor the crowd.
Residents were angered when the family blocked their street in Lidcombe for the celebrations.
The wedding launched the couple into the spotlight, although it appeared they separated less than a year after the event.
Mr Mehajer's arrest capped off a turbulent weekend for the Mehajer family, after preparations for the marriage of his sister to the nephew of nightclub boss John Ibrahim were interrupted by the shooting of Mr Ibrahim's bodyguard.
Members of the Ibrahim family were setting up for the wedding of Aisha Mehajer and Sam Sayour in a western Sydney backyard on Friday night when Semi "Tongan Sam" Ngata was shot.
He was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he was in a serious but stable condition on Saturday, as preparations for the nuptials continued.
The private wedding went ahead on Saturday night, in a marquee in the Merrylands backyard of Mr Ibrahim's mother.
Salim Mehajer and John Ibrahim are not believed to have attended.
In August, police applied for an AVO against Mr Mehajer, which prevented him from contacting or approaching Ms Learmonth.
Last week, Mr Mehajer has been hit with a fine and a legal bill after pleading guilty to failing to disclose his political donations while he was deputy mayor of the now-defunct Auburn Council.
