Alex Grantham dreams of playing baseball in America one day – and he is well on his way to achieving that dream.

The 10-year-old Camden Red Sox player was selected in the NSW Baseball high performance program this year and recently picked up an award from Wests Sports Council.

The year four student loves “everything” about the sport of baseball.

“I love swinging the bat, getting on base and helping my team,” he said.

“My favourite fielding position is first base and I enjoy working with my teammates to get the out. I love congratulation the opposing team at the end of the game, no matter who won or lost.”

Alex said he was “stoked” to be involved in the high performance program and took a lot out of the training.

“It has really improved my playing ability and skills and I would like to do the program again next year,” he said.

“Playing baseball as a career is my dream. I want to travel the world playing ball in the US and Europe.”

Alex has played with the Red Sox for two years.
