The first sketches of the planned Western Sydney Airport at Badgerys Creek have been released.
The federal minister for urban infrastructure, Paul Fletcher, revealed the images at an event for Western Sydney Airport Corporation’s home base announcement in Liverpool.
A call for tenders on the construction has gone out and the first work is set to begin next year.
The first designs indicate the airport will feature extensive glass panelling and several bus terminals.
If everything runs to schedule, the Western Sydney Airport will be opened in 2026.
Western Sydney Airport Corporation is expected to grow to employ 200 people at its peak and has so far appointed three board members.
The appointment of a chief executive officer and further staff is expected in the coming months.
