Two hundred women and girls throughout Macarthur have received an early Christmas present.

Charity Steps to Smiles – run by Starr Partners Campbelltown general manager Belinda Jardine and a group of friends including Tracy Braithwaite – recently provided 200 handbags full of essentials like shampoo, make-up and skin care products to locals residents.

The handbags – donated by a Cronulla resident – were given to several organisations the charity assists including the Department of Family and Community Services.

Other organisations Steps to Smiles has supported since it was established in 2014 include Vinnie’s Women’s Refuge in Eagle Vale, WILMA Women’s Health Centre and the Macarthur Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service.

Mrs Jardine said the charity had been blown away by the support of the community since its inception.

“You ‘d be amazed by the support people in Macarthur give you as soon they hear you are helping someone out,” she said.

Mrs Jardine said she was particularly blown away by the willingness of someone outside the region to assist.
