A man has been charged with aggravated sexual assault over two alleged attacks on women in Sydney's inner west.
One woman was taken to hospital after she was allegedly sexually assaulted and robbed just after midnight on Sunday December 10 at Selbourne Street in Burwood.
Emergency services were called to the scene and told the 24-year-old woman had been approached by a man, who assaulted her and demanded her bank cards.
He then allegedly took photos and threatened her after she handed over her cards, before dragging her across the street and sexually assaulted her.
The woman has since been released from hospital.
Officers from Strike Force Gevalia, made up of officers from Burwood Local Area Command and the state's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, were investigating the Sunday incident when they were alerted to another alleged assault and attempted robbery that happened early on Tuesday morning.
Police were told a 21-year-old woman was walking down Victoria Road about 4.20am when she was grabbed from behind by a strange man, who assaulted her and pushed her to the ground, demanding money.
They struggled, before the man fled the scene.
Strike force officers on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old South Korean national and charged him with 18 offences, including two counts of aggravated sexual assault, stalking, kidnap with intent to commit serious indictable offence occasion actual bodily harm, choke person with intend to commit indictable offence, and nine counts of attempt dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.
The man is also under investigation by Australian Border Force officers as a suspected unlawful non-citizen.
The man was refused bail, and is due to appear at Burwood Local Court on Thursday.
