Macarthur region smashed by wild stormy weather on Friday night

It was a wild old night across Macarthur on Friday night.

Macarthur residents were forced to take shelter as an intense storm lashed the region late on January 12.

The sky was lit up by an intense series of lightning strikes, which was complemented by thunder and a small amount of rain in some areas.

The damage included a power pole being struck by lightning in Tahmoor (see image below).

There were also reports of some Wollondilly residents losing power on Friday night.

The Advertiser put a call out on social media for photos of the storm, and the response from readers was impressive.
