Hume Highway accident: Car rolls near Picton Road on February 6

3.05pm:

The Hume Highway remains closed to northbound traffic following a car rollover on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred just north of the Picton Road turnoff at about 2.10pm.

Nearly an hour later, there are still heavy traffic conditions on the Hume.

One southbound lane is now also closed to traffic.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Northbound motorists can use Picton Road through Wilton to Remembrance Road as an alternative route.

2.40pm:

The Hume Highway has been partially closed after a car rolled on Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred just north of the Picton Road turnoff at about 2.10pm on February 6.

As a result, the highway has been closed to northbound traffic.

Emergency services personnel and a tow truck are at the scene.

Diversions are in place for northbound traffic.

Transport Management Centre spokeswoman Nicquie Moy said traffic conditions were heavy on the Hume.

“Motorists are advised to allow plenty of extra travel time and expect delays,” she said. 

“Emergency services are at the scene and traffic crews are on their way to help put the car back on its wheels and clean up.”

Motorists can use Picton Road through Wilton to Remembrance Road as an alternative route.

Ms Moy said the diversion was suitable for all vehicles.
