What’s on in Macarthur on International Women’s Day

Women, girls, ladies, gals, sisters and chicks – whatever you call each other, grab your fierce females and check out these International Women’s Day events in Macarthur.

This coming Thursday, March 8 is International Women’s Day and there are plenty of things to do around the region this month to mark the special day on the calendar.

Monday, March 5 – Sunday, March 11

Campbelltown leisure centres

New members to any of Campbelltown Council’s fitness/leisure centres – Gordon Fetterplace Aquatic Centre, Eagle Vale Central, Macquarie Fields Leisure Centre, Macquarie Fields Fitness and Indoor Sports Centre – can receive a free seven-day fitness pass for the week, including more than 50 fitness classes.

Wednesday, March 7

Eagle Vale Library

Macarthur Diversity Services Initiative is hosting a special event to empower women for employment. The event will include job search skills, interview skills, job application and cover letter suggestions and tops from the Dress for Success program.

Greg Percival Library, Ingleburn

Campbelltown Police are hosting an community event to teach women about personal safety, both outside and in the home. Attendees will be able to speak with a community safety officer about any concerns they have surrounding their safety.

Picton Shire hall

Wollondilly Council is supporting Community Links with a free community event feature a gourmet barbecue breakfast, guest speakers, ‘pampering’, craft activities and a local art showcase.

Campbelltown Catholic Club

Campbelltown Council is hosting an International Women’s Day breakfast in the Embers Courtyard. The event will featuring inspiring speeches from some amazing local women, including keynote speakers Lindy Deitz – general manager of Campbelltown Council, and Alison Derritt – general manager of Camden Hospital. The event is free.

Campbelltown Civic Centre

Women in Macarthur is holding a high tea for local business owners and community leaders. The event will provide a networking opportunity and be great motivation for local innovators.

United Cinemas Narellan

Camden Council will host a special screening of new British romantic comedy Finding Your Feet.

Tickets are $10 for regular seating and $15 for recliner seating.

The Benevolent Society

The Benevolent Society is holding an open day for women to come and learn about the services on offer, including women’s, children’s and family health. Attendees can enjoy a free sausage sizzle, browse craft stalls, participate in yoga and view a collection of art inspired by International Women’s Day. The event will also feature the launch of new book The Freedom Tellers.

Fernwood Fitness

Campbelltown’s Fernwood Fitness centre is holding a free open day. Women can attend group fitness classes, test out the training equipment and receive a free seven-day pass.

WILMA Women’s Health Centre

WILMA will celebrate 30 years in Macarthur by giving local ladies the opportunity to take part in yoga, thai chi, zumba, drumming, arts and crafts, singing, dancing and children’s activities. Morning tea is also provided.

Wakelings Automotive

Campbelltown Wakelings auto dealer is hosting a car safety night for women to learn more about things like changing tyres, checking oil and other vehicular skills.

Marsdens Law Group is holding a Women in Business and the Law event with guests speakers addressing bouncing back from a relationship breakdown, going into business and planning a future checklist. Includes light refreshments.
