New Spring Farm playground expected to open in August

A new Spring Farm playground is one step closer to reality, with Camden Council set to accept a tender for the development.

Wilton-based commercial landscapers Lamond Contracting will construct the Bandara Circuit play area, once the council votes to accept the tender on Tuesday night’s meeting.

The cost of the development is estimated to be more than $750,000.

Lamond must complete the playground construction by August, 2018.

The council’s report stated the park would be “bounded by a creek line, riparian vegetation and associated stormwater detention facilities”.

It will feature an interconnected path network, which has potential for expansion.

The playground will include an “extensive range of play equipment, shade structures, seating, landscaping” and a pedestrian bridge.

Camden mayor Lara Symkowiak last year said the park would reflect the needs of the community.

“It is important that the park meets the needs of residents and is a welcoming and comfortable environment for everyone to enjoy,” she said.

“All of the information gathered during consultation has contributed to the design of the play space and additional play and fitness components have been incorporated into the masterplan for the site for development in the future.”
