Get ready to play, Spring Farm’s newest park is now open.

The park, located in the Riverside section of Spring Farm has opened to kick off Father’s Day weekend.

The park’s designer and Cornish Group managing director Brett Cornish said the new playground was the largest in the Camden local government area.

“It’s an amazing park with some really cool equipment,” he said.

“There’s no other park like it around – it’s definitely the newest and the flashest.”

The Burrell Road park includes slides, climbing equipment, trampolines, swingsets and seesaws.

The playground also includes equipment that is wheelchair accessible.

Planning for the huge playground, which is adjacent to the Spring Farm dog park, took three years.

Mr Cornish said the size of the park and the style of equipment made it unique.

“My eight-year-old nephew Jack had a lot of say in the design,” he said.

“He told us about all the good stuff.

“All of the equipment was made in Germany and complies with Australian safety standards.

“We have stuff for toddlers right up to the big kids – we also have some wheelchair accessible equipment.”

Mr Cornish said the equipment was too tall and the park was too large to shade the entire playground.

But he also said there were large barbecue shelters near the playground and trees which will also provide some shading.

The playground is next to an expansive kick-around space which leads down to the lake.

“Opening weekend will be a lot fun,” he said.

“It’s Father’s Day weekend so it’s a great opportunity to spend some quality time with Dad.

“The equipment is the latest and greatest as well so children will really enjoy that.”

The Cornish Group used local contractors to complete the park.

There are currently no public toilets at the park but a Camden Council spokeswoman said the need for toilets would be assessed in future.

“Once this facility has been transferred to council ownership the use of the park will be monitored to determine whether additional infrastructure is required,” she said.

Camden Council is also planning new recreation spaces and has recently approved two water play parks and two new playgrounds in Camden worth $4 million.

The new parks will be similar in design to the hugely popular playground at Birriwa Reserve in Mount Annan.

The new water parks will be located in Oran Park and Elderslie, while the new playgrounds will be constructed at Harrington Park and Currans Hill.

It is estimated that they will be completed within 18 months.
