A Perth woman has told of the "terrifying" moments after a mass shooting a Las Vegas music festival and described the horror of seeing people running around screaming while bodies lay on the street.
At least twenty people are dead and more than hundred injured after a shooting at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival outside the Mandalay Bay Casino on the city's famous strip.
A burst of gunfire was heard during a performance by Jason Aldean, which several witnesses said appeared to come from an upper floor of the casino.
Claire McShanag told Radio 6PR on Monday afternoon she was catching up with friends at a bar 500 metres from where the shooting took place.
"We were over at New York New York having some drinks with friends from Perth and there were police and ambulance and fire brigade everywhere and bodies on the street," she said.
"People were terrified running around... we got in the lift to come up to the room where I my friends were staying and people were screaming and terrified.
"I've never seen faces like theirs before."
The 96FM radio promoter said she only checked out from the Mandalay Hotel the morning of the shootings.
"I've been staying at the Mandalay for the last three days," she said.
"It could have easily been us. We were 500 metres away from where the shooting took place.
"There are people running everywhere so we must have been lucky.
"The whole street was in lockdown."
Ms McShanag said the whole ordeal was terrifying.
"To be completely honest I was terrified," she said.
"I had a bit of meltdown before because when we came back last night that was the same time the shooting was happening.
"That would have been us at the hotel at that time. I just can't believe it... it's something you see on the TV all the time, it's just terrifying."
In terrifying footage of the incident, the sound of what appears to be bullets can be heard over music, which quickly cuts out, as people can be seen screaming and running for cover or lying on the ground.
Witnesses attending the festival reported "bullets flying everywhere" from "multiple shooters".
A witness told NBC Las Vegas: "They were firing from somewhere high and they were unloading clip after clip after clip... [there are] multiple shooters, there has to be," he said.
"It was hundreds of shots.
