This New Year’s Eve don your best feather boa, tighten your corset and break out the fedora for a spectacular soiree at Upstairs at Fred’s.
The Camden restaurant and bar will host ‘Say Oui’ on December 31 to help locals bring in 2018.
Upstairs at Fred’s owner Steve Wisbey said the event came about because he wanted to give the community a fun way to celebrate.
“Camden and Campbelltown are pretty dead on New Year’s Eve,” he said.
“We had friends come out here a few years ago and we tried to take them somewhere to celebrate but there was just nowhere to go.
“Everything seems to close at midnight.”
Upstairs at Fred’s will be transformed into a whimsical party wonderland for the event – which will end at 2am.
“Think Moulin Rouge meets Mardi Gras,” Mr Wisbey said.
“We wanted the event to be inclusive so we have male and female burlesque dancers, a drag queen, a live band and a DJ.
“The band plays eclectic vaudeville style music which just suits Fred’s to a tee.”
Mr Wisbey said it was the perfect chance for locals to kick up their heels close to home.
“If you come to Fred’s it won’t cost you $200 to get home in an uber,” he said.
“It’s close to home so you don’t have to deal with the craziness of the city – but you can have a bit of fun, have a dance and enjoy some really great food.”
Tickets for the event are $99 per person which includes two drinks, food and entertainment.
“We’re encouraging people to come dressed for the theme,” Mr Wisbey said.
“We had a Moulin Rouge night once before and it was great – people really got into the costume idea and it created a great atmosphere.”
Mr Wisbey said he hoped residents would support the local event and enjoy a good night out.
“We have lots of good things happening in Australia right now so we have every right to celebrate,” he said.
