Campbelltonian Nick Shipley has been named in the 16-man Greater Western Sydney Giants squad for the inaugural AFLX tournament this week.
The tournament is a shortened version of AFL – similar to cricket’s T20 or the rugby sevens.
Teams will be split up into three pools of six, which each pool playing over three consecutive days – beginning this Thursday night.
Each side will play two games with halves lasting 10 minutes.
The two best sides will meet in the final.
Shipley, who was selected by the Giants in last year’s draft at pick 64, will join club superstars like Tom Scully, Lachie Whitfield and Adam Tomlinson in the squad.
The Giants will kick off the Saturday’s games against last year’s premiers, the Richmond Tigers, at 4.10pm.
The Sydney leg will be held at Allianz Stadium.
