Get used to this face – you’ll be seeing a lot more of Deborah Cooke.

The Bradbury journalist is one of 13 trivia lovers appearing nightly on ABC’s new quiz show Think Tank.

The show, airing 6pm weeknights, is hosted by Paul McDermott and sees three contestants go head-to-head with the help – or hindrance – of the ‘think tank’.

That’s where Ms Cooke comes in.

“Most of the other ‘Tankers’, as we call ourselves, have some really great specialised knowledge, whereas I just know a little bit about a lot,” she said.

“As a journalist, I’m always reading and picking things up.

“But don’t ask me about politics or current affairs – books and movies I’m really good at, geography and food as well, but not politics, science or maths.”

Ms Cooke said she and the majority of the other Tankers were selected after appearing as contestants on Channel Seven’s The Chase and other quiz shows.

She said they spent long hours together filming the program and had become good friends.

“We’ve set up a group on Facebook for us all to catch up,” she said.

“By now we all know each other very well – it’s good fun.”

Ms Cooke said she had received plenty of messages from friends and family after making her first appearance on the show last Tuesday.

She said filming Think Tank had been an “incredible experience” and she hoped the show would be renewed for a second season.

“It’s really fantastic to see such a mix of people represented on the show,” she said.

“They’re all really interesting people, like Bruce, who is well-known in Melbourne as a tram driver.

“Then there’s Mik, who works with indigenous communities and has nine kids.

“Emma is particularly interested in arts and music.”

Ms Cooke also has great things to say about the leader of the pack, host Paul McDermott.

“Paul is a very, very funny man,” she said.

“I’ve liked his work for a long time, way back to Good News Week.

“I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to do this show with him and the other Tankers.”
