People around Australia have already donated more than $70,000 to the family of three-year-old Alby Davis, who died tragically on Monday.
Social media posts say Alby was playing with some presents that had arrived for his fourth birthday party, and choked to death on a small ball.
A family friend organised the fundraiser to help parents Simon and Anna Davis get through without financial stress.
As of late Thursday morning, more than 2900 people had donated $89,222 in the previous 20 hours, towards a $100,000 goal. The goal was originally $40,000.
The Gofundme page The Small Folks Village said Simon was a relief teacher, and not entitled to any leave, and Anna was self-employed with an online business The Small Folk, which specialises in educational toys and games for small children.
Alby is survived by his two siblings, Sage and Acre.
