Camden Council has received a $50,000 grant to undertake design work at the intersection of Anderson Road and Camden Valley Way, Smeaton Grange.
The money will be used to design dual right hand turn lanes from Anderson Road onto Camden Valley Way.
Traffic is often banked back along Anderson Road at the busy intersection during peak hour.
At last week’s council meeting Councillor Peter Sidgreaves said an upgrade was needed at the site.
“After speaking with the community, upgrades are definitely needed to get back up onto Camden Valley Way,” he said.
“Truck drivers often comment on it.
“Hopefully the widening of Narellan Road will help alleviate the [traffic] problems as well.
“I’m happy to accept the funds.”
Funding for the investigation into the design has been allocated by the NSW Government under the Network Planning Program.
