Sydney brother and sister design duo, Camilla and Marc, have kicked off Australian fashion week with a collection fit for a modern princess.
The label, a favourite of future princess Meghan Markle who recently stepped out wearing one of their blazers, displayed functional tailoring for the future-thinking woman in their opening show.
"It was an honour that she wore it (the blazer) and I think she really embodies what the brand's ethos is, and we wish her all the best for her upcoming nuptials," Camilla Freeman-Topper told AAP after the opening show.
Victoria's Secret model Georgia Fowler and Vogue Australia cover girl Charlee Fraser walked in the futuristic catwalk show, traversing the 60 tonnes of sand imported into Sydney's Royal Hall of Industries to create an arid Australian landscape.
With the help of the sand, red rock boulders and large white sphere dangling from the ceiling, the ghosts of Easter Shows past were thoroughly exorcised from the historic room.
Chris Hemsworth's wife, actress Elsa Pataky, brought the star power to the front row as she watched models walk past in neutral tones - khaki, rust, stone - in the understated, practical collection that combined masculine tailoring with feminine silhouettes.
"The inspiration behind the collection was about modern, forward-thinking women who really have a lot of strength and confidence," Freeman-Topper said.
As for the Lost in Space setting, Marc Freeman said the idea was to transport the spectators to another place.
"We really wanted to take our guests tonight on a journey to another world and I think we land them in that other world and discombobulate them in sound, light and with an amazing collection," he said.
A host of other Australian designers will showcase their resort or trans-seasonal wear during Fashion Week in Sydney including Alice McCall, Macgraw and Romance Was Born, with Camilla set to close the week.
