Pacific Highway cow photo leads to grisly farm discovery and animal cruelty charges

NSW POLICE have charged a 67-year-old farmer with numerous animal cruelty acts after they were initially lead to his property by photos of a cow being towed down the Pacific Highway near Clybucca.  

Police received photos from motorists of a cow in a box trailer earlier in May, but upon attending the Aldavilla man’s farm Rural Crime Investigators found a number of animals in poor condition. 

Officers said two dead cows were found inside a machinery shed and two other cows were in a bad way.

Police located the cow that was previously in the trailer deceased on the property, along with a deceased calf from the cow.

The cow and calf were transported on sealed and unsealed roads for about one hour. It is reported that the calf had died prior to transporting.

As a result, the RSPCA were notified and the two remaining cows were euthanised on site.

The man was charged with conveying an animal unjustifiably inflict pain and being in charge of an animal fail to provide vet treatment (x2).

The man will appear in Kempsey Local Court on July 16.
