International Cat Day well received in Wollondilly: Photos

Wollondilly residents have shown love for their four-legged friends on Wednesday.

August 8 is International Cat Day, an annual celebration of all felines and kitties.

International Cat Day was launched in 2002 by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) to toast the bond between humans and cats.

To celebrate, the Advertiser put a call out on social media for readers to submit photos of their favourite cats.

The reception from our readers was fantastic.

Chance to adopt

According to an Animal Medicines Australia Report, there are more than 3.9 million pet cats across Australia.

On International Cat Day, residents are reminded there are many cats up for adoption at RSPCA NSW animal shelters.
