It might only be September but one Wollondilly resident is already thinking about how he can spread some Christmas cheer.

Oakdale resident Shane Pendergast will hold the inaugural Wollondilly Santa Bike Cruz on Saturday, December 15.

Mr Pendergast and others will ride on their motorbikes to shire towns handing out presents to children.

“I will be dressing up as Santa Claus,” he said. “I will ride on a trike with presents in a sack.

“Other motorbike riders can come along, as my elves, to help me hand out the gifts.

“I want to give presents to families who might be down on their luck or parents can buy a present for their child and we can hand it out to them.

“We will meet at Picton at 9am. We will then go to Victoria Park Oval in Picton at 9.30am, then to Tahmoor Park at 10am. We will meet at Bargo Sportsground at 10.30am before heading to the park across from the Welcome Inn Hotel, Thirlmere.”

The riders will then head back to the Tahmoor Uniting Church for a family fun day with locals from about 11.30am.

“Children can sit on the bikes and cars and have their photo taken,” Mr Pendergast said. “There will be a jumping castle, face painting and probably a raffle.

“There will also be food and drink available.

“All the proceeds will go to a charity to help homeless children. We are asking for a gold coin donation.”

Mr Pendergast is asking for people to donate their time to help run the day and he is encouraging locals to come to the present drop-off point and head out to Tahmoor family event.

He also needs to know which families are doing it tough so he can give a present to the children. People who ride motorbikes are also encouraged to contact him if they want to be part of the cruise.

Mr Pendergast said he had lived in Wollondilly for more than 30 years and wanted to have a fun local event.

“I want to bring the community together, hand out some toys and spread some Christmas joy.”
