Halloween is the perfect excuse to get dressed up and enjoy a scary night out with friends.

Elderslie psychic medium Tracey Lee has teamed up with Upstairs at Fred’s owner Steve Wisbey to host an adults-only Halloween celebration in the lead-up to October 31.

Nightmare on Argyle Street will give locals a chance to celebrate the scariest night of the year in one of Camden’s allegedly haunted buildings.

Ms Lee said the October 27 event would have something for everyone.

“It’s the perfect prelude to Halloween – we decided to host it early so that people could still take their children trick or treating on the day,” she said.

“We will have prizes for best-dressed, music, dancing, delicious food and of course we will also have a platform show where we will offer psychic readings.”

Ms Lee hosted a similar event at Menangle House a few years ago.

“It was a great event,” she said. “We decided to host it in Camden this year because the town is struggling a little and Fred’s is a great venue.

“Everyone knows Fred’s is haunted, plus it is a really fun place so it suits the theme of the night.”

The psychic platform show will be hosted by Ms Lee alongside other local mediums.

“We usually get messages directed at particular members of the audience but it’s your choice whether you wish to participate,” she said.

“Some people just like to come along and watch because it can be quite confronting.

“We try to keep it as light as possible but sometimes we get a few tears because it can be emotional to receive messages from past loved ones.

“In the 18th century we probably would have been burned at the stake for what we do but people are more open to the unknown nowadays.”

Ms Lee said the event was the perfect way to celebrate Halloween.

“It will be a whole lot of fun,” she said. “We have a DJ coming so there will be plenty of dancing. Come along with an open mind.”

The event will be held on Saturday, October 27 from 7pm at Upstairs at Fred’s on Argyle Street, Camden.

Tickets are $119 including food, beer, wine and soft drinks.
