The idea of crawling under a house in the dark, surrounded by dirt and bugs would scare most adults but Teoni Tracey braved the small space to make a daring rescue.
When Teoni’s beloved pet cat Paris decided to give birth under her Macquarie Fields home, the eight-year-old girl crawled under the house to rescue Paris and her newborn kittens.
Teoni’s father Garry said his daughter was determined to make sure the kittens were okay.
“The space is really narrow so we knew Teoni was the only person who could fit under there and save them,” he said.
“She didn’t want to go at first because she told me she was scared of the dark but she still got under there.
“She had tears of fear running down her face but she just kept going.
“She kept calling out to me the whole time she was under there to let me know where she was.
“I think she overcame a bit of a fear because now she’s always wanting to go exploring.”
Mr Tracey said the ragdoll cat named after Paris Hilton was Teoni’s favourite pet.
“Teoni just loves her – she didn’t want to leave her and the babies under the house,” he said.
“They are all doing really well now – everyone is healthy and happy.
“Paris and the kittens are in Teoni’s room in a little pen now and she doesn’t take her eyes off them
“She loves looking after them.
“She is always telling us how adorable they are – she just loves it.”
Mr Tracey said the kittens would be sold to new families once the they are old enough.
