Fans of Ruse artist Celeste Wrona’s work might notice something a little different about her new pieces.

The mum-of-two has taken a shift in her style, and the results will be on display at her upcoming solo exhibition later this month.

Wrona told the Advertiser the personalities of her children matched the designs of her artwork.

“The work is definitely reflective of my two children,” she said. “My earlier work was very bright and colourful, and my first child was loud and outgoing.

“Now with my new baby, the work is much more subdued and mellow and I’ve been experimenting with a new colour palette, because my son is quieter and calmer.

“I don’t know if they’ve developed those personalities themselves or if I’ve projected that onto them.”

Wrona’s upcoming exhibition at Gauge Gallery in Glebe is her first solo collection.

She is nervous and excited for the show to get under way.

“I’m working hard to get everything ready on time and I’m a little nervous about that,” she said. “I won’t get to hang anything until the day before the opening.

“It’s a really good feeling to be getting close – I’m excited for everyone to see the exhibition.”

The collection is called Awaken and will be on show at Gauge from November 20-15. The exhibition will include an opening brunch on Wednesday, November 21 and an official launch on the evening of Friday, November 23.

Wrona said the response to the impending exhibition had been wonderful.

“I’ve even had to close entries for the Friday night because we’ve reached capacity,” she said.

“It’s going to be such a good time and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the gallery.”

Wrona said her new works were ‘mixed media collage’ with muted tones and seascapes.

But she will also feature some of her trademark ink paintings.

Wrona rose to prominence when her artworks were featured on The Block and its tie-in online shop.
