Shopping for business attire can be difficult for women with not much cash to splash, but Dress for Success Sydney (DFSS) hopes to change that.
The not-for-profit organisation will host a pop-up boutique at Wests Leagues Club, Leumeah on Saturday, April 13 where women can purchase high quality, well-known clothing brands for a fraction of the new cost.
The concept was created by the Macarthur Sunrise and the Gregory Hills Next Gen Rotary Club to raise funds for DFSS.
The organisation provides a range of free services to disadvantaged women who are seeking employment.
DFSS chairwoman Robyn de Szoeke said many of these women had experienced abuse, discrimination and isolation.
"They may be young women in year 10 from families who are struggling, through to women in their sixties who lack support and savings and are at high risk of living in poverty," she said.
"I am so proud that we are able to change the lives of 3500 women per year.
"We could not do this without the army of volunteers who give their time and talents so generously as well as the commitment and contribution of organisations like Rotary and Wests."
DFSS receives well in excess of 100,000 garments and accessories donated each year.
Labels include Witchery, Cue, Andiamo, Country Road, Mink Pink, Nine West, City chic and Allanah Hill.
All clothing, shoes and handbags are just $10 with some jewellery priced at two pieces for $5.
Rotary district governor Sue Haywood said the pop-up boutique was an amazing experience.
"Shoppers line up ahead of time and once the doors open it is a whirl of excitement as clothes fly off the racks," she said.
"Not to mention the handbags which are always popular."
DFSS volunteer Bev Trengrove said "you can't beat guilt free shopping where all of the proceeds go directly to a charity".
"We have had so much fun selecting and curating the stock for this sale," she said.
"We want every shopper to find something special.
"And we know that women often buy for the other women in their lives - daughters, sisters, mums. At $10 an item they can take home a treat or two for someone else as well."
Any shopper who shows this article at check out will receive a 10 per cent discount on their total purchases on the day.
