Ten Tahmoor karate students are focused and ready for their next big challenge.
The Arthur Moulas Martial Arts (AMMA) students will compete at a prestigious mixed martial arts tournament in the nation's capital on Sunday.
The Australian Martial Arts Championship will host round one of AMAC Canberra.
Tahmoor AMMA coach Shane Taylor said the challenge would provide a good test for his students.
"It's a good tournament in Canberra, I think it's pretty significant for these kids," he said.
"We will be bringing students aged from six years old up to 45 years old."
Taylor said the Australian championship was divided into five rounds.
Three events are held in Sydney and two in Canberra.
Taylor said the first Sydney round was held last month and his students performed well.
"We had six students compete and they all managed a first or second place," he said.
"We also had several third and fourth place finishes.
"You need to perform well in at least two rounds to qualify for state tournaments."
Taylor, who has has taught karate at the Tahmoor AMMA centre for 15 years, said his students trained hard each week.
"You need to be invited into our class. These students are all talented and dedicated," he said.
Tahmoor AMMA is located at 2 Stratford Road, Tahmoor.
